Cathay Pacific – New Munich Route & Resuming Flights to Brussels in Summer 2025

Friday, December 6, 2024

Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s flagship carrier, is making a return to Brussels after halting services at the start of the COVID pandemic.

According to New York’s Aviation Week, Cathay Pacific has active plans to expand its European operations next summer, establishing a new route to Munich and resuming flights to Brussels.

The Oneworld alliance member will serve 11 European cities during the summer 2025 season, offering up to 93 return flights per week – a 20 per cent increase from summer 2024.

Flights between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Munich Airport (MUC) will launch on June 16 with four weekly return services, making Munich the airline’s second destination in Germany alongside daily flights to Frankfurt.

The route will be operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The announcement comes as Lufthansa prepares to resume flights between Munich and Hong Kong after a five-year hiatus.

The Star Alliance member will launch daily A350-900 flights on the route beginning March 30, adding to the growing connectivity between the cities.

Additionally, Cathay will return to Belgium’s capital Brussels on August 3. The airline will operate four weekly flights on the route, also using A350-900s. Brussels was last served on a regular basis before the COVID-19 pandemic halted operations in March 2020.

“Cathay Pacific has been flying non-stop to Europe for over four decades and we remain very committed to this important market,” chief customer and commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said.
